Overview: Redesigning Huoshan Park to deliver more historical information about that special period in an interesting way for kids and tourists, meanwhile improve the quality of park's space for daily leisure activities. Introducing AR (augmented reality) experience into the landscape renovation design of Huoshan Park to enhance the place memory about Jewish refugees. Tourists can travel back to the park in the 1930s by AR application, get to know how Jewish Refugees live a positive and optimistic life, embodying the importance of peace and hope.
Past & Present: Huoshan Park had been the public “haven” for recreation and entertainment for Jewish refugees who took refuge during World War II in Shanghai Ghetto for almost 10 years. It has deep historical memories and value, should be carefully protected and remembered. Currently, surrounding residents, especially the elderly and kids, also like to play here, and the park's recreational facilities and venues are aging and insufficient. There is a serious conflict between its position as a historical sites and a daily relaxation space.
